Portal setup

Setting up your sign-in

Your first sign-in has three parts: a temporary password from your invite, a password you choose, and an authenticator app on your phone. This page walks through all three, with the bit people get stuck on answered in full.

Before you start about 5 minutes

The portal holds client files, so every account needs an authenticator app. Setting that up is part of your first sign-in — you can't skip it and come back.

1

Sign in with the temporary password

Go to solutions.emeriti.ai and choose Sign in. Enter your email address and the temporary password from your invite email — copy and paste it rather than typing it.

The sign-in screen. The plain grey styling is normal — this is our identity provider, not a different site.

The web address will change when you click Sign in, to one ending amazoncognito.com. That's expected. It is the sign-in service we use, and it is where your password is checked.

2

Choose your own password

The temporary password only works once. You'll be asked to set a password of your own straight away. Pick something you don't use anywhere else, or let your password manager generate it.

3

Add the account to your authenticator app

Next you'll see a QR code and a line of letters and numbers labelled something like secret key. Leave that screen open — you need it in a moment.

Any authenticator app works. Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy — whatever you already have. If you have none, Microsoft Authenticator is free on the App Store and Play Store.

In Microsoft Authenticator, tap + and then:

Add account
Personal account
Work or school account
Other account (Google, Facebook, etc.)
Choose Other account.

Not "Work or school account." That option expects a Microsoft-issued code and will reject ours. It is the single most common reason a setup fails, and the error it gives doesn't explain why.

If it asks for an "Account name", what do I type?

Anything you like — it's only a label so you can recognise the entry in your list later. Emeriti Portal is perfect.

The part that matters is the next box, usually called Secret key: paste the key from the sign-in screen there. If your app offers to scan the QR code instead, do that and you'll never see these boxes at all.

4

Type the six-digit code

Your app will start showing a six-digit code that changes every thirty seconds. Type the current one into the sign-in screen to confirm the pairing. That's the last step — you're in.

From then on you'll need your password and a fresh code from the app each time you sign in.

If the code is rejected, wait for the next one and try again — the codes are time-based, and a phone clock that's drifted by more than a minute will produce codes we can't match. On iPhone: Settings → General → Date & Time → Set Automatically.

Stuck anywhere in this?

Email [email protected] and we'll walk you through it, or send a fresh sign-in if the setup got half-finished. There's no penalty for starting over — it happens often enough that we'd rather you asked than lost an afternoon.

For your security, Emeriti Solutions will never ask for your password by email or phone.
